OpenShift Client Tool(s)

Uncategorized — Jeff Eske on February 28, 2018 at 11:06 am

Just setup a free, personal OpenShift account, so that I can begin exploring that more.  Online, they only offer the web console, of course, but I wanted to use the CLI.  Within the web console, they give you links to download the oc executable for Linux, Windows, and Mac.  I downloaded the Windows one, and it worked with no issues on Windows 10.  I tried downloading the Linux version, but it wouldn’t work.

I did some looking and found out that there are other versions of the client tools available at: https://github.com/openshift/origin/releases/tag/v1.2.2

Homemade Leather Wallet – A Few Years In

General — Jeff Eske on February 8, 2018 at 10:28 am

I’ve been using my homemade leather wallet for a few years now and decided that it would be a good time to post some pics of how it’s held up over time.  Since making it, I haven’t fixed any stitching or re-sewn any edges.  It’s held up exceptionally well.

Front View –

The front pocket was a pre-finished piece from a kit that I found in an old box of junk.  It’s actually what started the whole thing.  I decided that I wanted to create a small, minimal wallet with that as the single pocket on it.  If you look at the picture in the original post, you can see that it’s lighter than the rest of the wallet.  Over time now, it’s darkened up to match the rest of the leather nicely…

Back view – The light spot is white paint that made it on there years ago, during some home remodeling project.

Inside View – Nice patina, IMO.

I just really like the look of well-worn leather…

Standing Desk Update – 6 and half years in…

General,Health and Fitness — Jeff Eske on February 6, 2018 at 2:44 pm

I’ve been doing the Standing Desk Thing for some time now and haven’t posted an update about it recently.  OK, I haven’t written an update in a long time.  Obviously, I haven’t written ANYTHING on here recently…

I’m still standing for most of the workday.  I do sit down for phone conversations and lunch, but that’s about it.  I’ve kept a low profile and so far have been able to continue using my standing desk with no interference from my employer.  I DID just hear someone else asking about getting a standing desk yesterday and they were told they need a doctor’s note, then a desk will be ordered for them.  I’ll just keep on keepin’ on with my original, illegal $18 one.  🙂

New Stuff!

Programming — Jeff Eske on February 6, 2018 at 12:45 pm

I’m starting in on a new project at work.  It’s going to be learning all new stuff!  We’re in the nebulous stages of looking into DevOps in general and containerization in particular.  I’m getting a chance to get in on the ground floor of the research and implementation.  I’m hoping to use this space to record my observations along the way.
